Support is needed for Christmas in the Park, a holiday tradition in downtown San Jose. For more than 44 years, the annual event has brought people from all over the Bay Area together. But the nonprofit could run thousands of dollars short next year after some sponsors pulled out this year.
Hundreds of people made their way over to Christmas in the Park in Downtown San Jose for opening night Friday. But this year, organizers are asking for the community’s help to keep the lights on.

Christmas in the Park is returning to Downtown San Jose, but organizers are concerned about its future.

Christmas kickoff- Christmas in the Park gets off to a festive start Nov. 29 with the official tree lighting at 6 p.m. at Plaza de Cesar Chavez in downtown San Jose.
Adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities from Hope Services work at Christmas in the Park’s workshop year round to help prepare for the holiday season. Recently, Hope Services secured a grant for these men to be paid fairly for their time, a major win for adults with disabilities who are often paid a subminimum wage.
